PAYE
As an employer, you must operate Pay As you Earn as part of your payroll which is a system for His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to collect income tax and national insurance (NI) from employment. You won't need to be registered if none of your employees are paid £118 or more a week, are getting any benefits and expenses or have another job or are getting pension but you must keep proper payroll records. Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
If your work involve any construction work, pay sub-contractors or spend more than £1,000,000 a year on any construction work then you must register as a contractor under the construction industry scheme before taking on or paying any sub contractors, you can also register under the scheme if you are a sub-contractor but your contractor will deduct a higher percentage of with hold tax paid to HMRC on your behalf if you do not register under the scheme. Charities
Certain charities are ''Exempt or Excepted'' which means that they wouldn't have to register with the charity commission to be recognised as Charitable Incorporated Organisation if they are supervised by or accountable to another body or authority or simply because their annual income is £100,000 or less or £5,000 or less. These charities still need to run their charities by keeping proper accounting records and are expected to follow best practice including the statement of recommended practice and can choose to register with His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in order to be recognised for tax purposes.
